There have been a lot of buzz around humble leadership and servant leaders in the media. This new form of leadership is being taught to C-suite leaders and in graduate schools. They say it promises increased revenues, agile problem solving, and higher employee satisfaction and engagement.
But really, what is humble leadership and what does it even mean?
The meaning of humble leadership:
According to Merriem-Webster Dictionary, Humility is the freedom from pride or arrogance. Humility is the state of being humble.
This means that humble leaders put others before themselves, have the courage to admit their mistakes, and appreciate others’ strengths and expertise.
If leadership has a secret sauce, it may well be humility. A humble boss understands that there are things he doesn't know. He listens: not only to the other bigwigs in Davos, but also to the kind of people who don't get invited, such as his customers.
